Personally I think it's a little twisted that a mass-market product like the Wii (or PS3) is limited in availability, anyways. I can understand a product that must be meticulously hand-finished like a Tele Vue 'scope not being available in huge quantities, but a gaming consol?!
... Pathetic capitalist games. I vote to gather up the gamers in wanting and wage mass revolutions!!!
I've dropped by the gs by work every day before shipment arrival time. Poor manger looks like he's going to drop dead from the constant, *ring* "hello this is the xxxxxx gamestop xxxxx speaking....No we don't have any wii's." *ring* repeat. friday had 12 grandparents in line before the store opened... 6 wii's were supposedly supposed to arrive and they still were waiting just in case... On a stupid note someone I know was convinced they were going to be able to talk into best buy after work and buy a wii... silly ppl.
Working in the same building as a major electronics retailer which sells the damn things has been an eyeopening experience.
The douche bags who camped out in front of the store for 3 days to buy a PS3 were horrible. I wanted to huck a tear gas grenade into their gusty hippie-esque electricity stealing tent shantytown. To make matters worse, when they finally did manage to stumble their bleary, grimy, jobless asses into to the store to plunk down money I'm sure was stolen or borrowed from Mom and Dad in order turn an unholy profit on ebay (perhaps so they could go another month without employment?) they bought nothing but the system. No games, no controllers, nothing that would make the retailer any real income. Just a box and get out.
By contrast the Wii people were neat, clean, didn't steal anything, didn't leave a mess and actually bought things, unlike the panhandlers that were the PS3 people. Hell I had some nice conversations with a few of the Wii-sters.
They do have a crazed look in their eye when they come in on a controller hunt however.
As a side note, I think Sony has more then a little culpability in the shooting(s), beatings, and robberies that went on due to their little marketing scheme. Oooh, makes me mad.
